'AVE IT robot scum! Wolverine takes down a mutant hunting Sentinel, I did this sunday afternoon at my girlfreinds pearents house, the drawing didnt take long, well, i dunno, just kinda zoned out, it started as a little pick of Logun and just kept sprawling, i did the colouring in PS 7 on monday night, maaan it took ages, for me any way, anyone that knows me knws that elaborate diorama thingies aint usually me, i love um, i just dont usually manage to do um, i'm chuffed with this, hope you all like it too :)

After the whole AVPR thing, I've again been reminded of the coolness of Aliens and there for generated this!


With some tips and pointers from a buddy of mine, I've finally remembered how to do colour holds (that's were you colour the line work in) hense on the rain and drips on the critters jaw.

And here's some sillyness involving zombies and girls in tight dresses...
These two were actually 2 sketches that appeared on the same page, when i scanned it, they looked like they should be together in a scene so i made up some dialogue...

I was inspired to do a bit of colouring on friday night, and here are the results, yay, NINJA NUN, she will share Mega Priests universe and appear in cross over type things :)

Here's a silly pic and a review of last nights cinema excursion!

Went to see AVPR… LOVED IT…but…

Imagine all yer favourite action moments of all 4 alien movies rammed together with the best parts of the original predator movie and your some were in the ball park, it’s got rain, darkness, slime coated monsters, cocooning, scuttling face huggers buckets of blood and strobe lighting. Which is all great and fab and a good romp, now, on with the panning.
As I say it has all the stuff you loved from the original movies, which is great, they captured the atmosphere, but you just have the feeling that you’ve seen it before, a plucky dark haired girl in a vest driving an APC recklessly, a hopeless gun battle between the aliens and a group of unprepared soldiers, all ace for the nostalgia factor, but then again, I can plug ALIENS on when I get home and achieve the same end, my point is, it didn’t really bring anything new, and you know that they purposefully ARE cashing in on the previous movies, there’s a guy called Dallas for fuck sake and the hero woman (who looks so much like Sigourney Weaver its scary) spends 90% of the time carrying a small child about.
The effects were amazing and there was very little cg, the atmosphere, as I say, beautifully rendered with a lot of the same sound cues that make a huge fanboy like me feel at home, but the things that really make an Alien movie were missing, the vast amounts of characterization and untenable depths of the plot were missing. The characters felt like they were plucked strait from a rejected script for scream and were so one dimensional, if they turned sideways they’d disappear, they kill um off left right and centre and you laugh, ‘cos you don’t give a bowl cracking log whether they get out alive or NOT. And the plot feels as ropy as, well, old rope in places. The hero predator gets there within a few hours of being summoned from the home world, despite the fact that in the previous film, the Pred’s went to earth in cryogenic freeze, all the main characters just happen to turn up at the precise moment this kicks off, the main woman, she comes back from the army the same time Dallas comes out of jail, WHY?, it would have been better if we just saw a photo of her in Iraq on her mantel piece or something. The human characters just feel flat and unexplored, which is just soo out of character for the Aliens universe.

Over all, an enjoyable experience if you just cash yer brain in at the door and want a fun ride of blood guts and awesome effects, it is a Requiem, a Requiem for Hollywood and the days when films were multy layered, deep and slow paced, the days when you could watch an hour of a film before something blew up or someone got melted, when all there was to hold your attention was people, hell, people can hold my attention, they do all day every day, so why should a film be any different, any way, I still say see it, just don’t be expecting James Cameron or Ridley Scott, there ghosts can be felt, but not in the eyes of the plastic humans, you might glimpse them in the glistening jaws of the monsters just before they strike, if you look hard.

Over all 7 out of 10 it made me :)

A little concept sketch for an idea I had ages ago for a Candleman adventure in which a flash back shows how some pirates stole from the Sultan who rules Zanzibar!

CANDLEMANS NEMISI returns

After the faltering and eventual abandonment of INFERNO, I moved on to the physical comic world with CANDLEMAN-welcome to hope city available here: www.lulu.com , this has lead to the sort of seqiel CANDLEMAN vs CHRISTMAS, not available yet, but nearly... anyway, were I'm going with this, is simply, having done a few fairly solid works now has helped me get over alot of issues with my art and made me realise that when INFERNO's time to shine comes, as part of a propper story arc, it needs to be completely revamped, hence, i had a tinker with Lucifer, here he is in all his devil mask wearing glory :) hope you like him... Check it out, a whole new character for the Candleman universe NINJA NUN, she's gonna appear in the Mega Priest section of the world as a kind of cross over character, hence her costumes more risque as its kind of a dream world and the universe is themed around cleshes in comics.. yada yada deep meaningful crap, i like fishnets and babes so there she is, kinki samurai nun lady...

I got a shiny new version of photoshop for home yesterday, when i say new... its the ancient 7 version i use in work, but its better than 6 and does everything i need it to... any way i'm woffling, i did these last night from the scribbles i posted yesterday

SNIKTY STAB STAB

Here are a few doodles from the last day or so, when i want to concentrate on my technique and not design i revert to drawing marvel, cos their already created i can focus on line work and inking etc, hence all the wolverines and stuff....

Any way, here's a sketchbook pick of logun stabbin the crap outa some government agent or some shit like that, its black n white cos the colours turned out a bit shit and it was coloured in pen so GAY, no recovery no Z button shiiiiit. Looks kinda like the origonal turtles comics though in black n white, which is ever cool.

And here are some more doowdils, again, more pen work, all done strait off in pen and coloured with shity felt tips from wh smithsm but these ones look coowol (no braggin intended) I'm just pleased with um, hope u guys like um too.

The first beast (middle top) his head was a bit too thin and too sorta wolveriny, but the colour one done strait after, i based that on my best mat Loui, he dressed up as beast for a haloween do ones, blue hair suit and died blue head hair too, nut case, he looked the fuckin bomb, so i thought i'de make beast look like the Loui and hay presto, it looks sweet... enjoy u bunch o flumps, i'll get more out to u soon, but i think i hear the authorities closing on on my position right now so...

LETS GO BUB!!

As per requested I did a wolverine...with a costume that looks like a millitary uniform designed by addidas, this too toulk about an hour from pencils to finish, but, the pencils did take a bit longer, hope u likes it :)
